How I Review Paddles
My process is designed to give you real information about how a paddle performs — not marketing copy repackaged as a review.
Testing Duration
I test every paddle for a minimum of four weeks before publishing. Most reviews reflect six or more weeks of use. I play across multiple formats: recreational open play, league doubles, occasional singles, and controlled dinking sessions.
What I Measure
I rate every paddle on five dimensions:
- Power — Baseline drive pace, serve depth, overhead pop
- Spin — Topspin generation, slice bite, surface grip retention over time
- Control — Third-shot drop consistency, dinking precision, reset reliability
- Feel — Touch feedback, arm comfort, on-court sound and vibration
- Value — Performance relative to price, including how it stacks up against similar paddles
How I Test
Every paddle gets put through the same routine over several weeks of real play, so reviews reflect how it holds up over time rather than a first impression. Where it helps, I compare a paddle directly against others in the same category.
Independence Standards
I do not accept payment for positive reviews. Paddles sent to me for free are disclosed in the review. The rating is determined before publishing and is not subject to influence from manufacturers.
Score Rounding
Ratings are fractional to one decimal place. An overall rating of 4.3 reflects the weighted average of the five dimension scores, with feel and control weighted slightly higher for recreational players.
